Hamlet

My views regarding movie Hamlet

1) The movie Kenneth Branagh's "HAMLET" based on William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" is according to me faithful to Shakespeare’s Hamlet because the language of the play is same to the movie and as a director Kenneth Branagh had tried to do some changes in the movie. Here in this movie he comes with same dialogue , by watching this movie, we can understand drama very well, but here he made some changes here like background of the stage, character’s costume and the mirror scene is the new idea of the director, but as far as the play is concerned movie is faithful to the play. and yes very well use of Soliloquies.

" To be or not to be that is the question"

2)All scene and character are as described in play are presented as in movie. Even sometimes its described more clear than in play.

3  yes i feel aesthetic delight during watching movie when Hamlet took there  revenge at that time i feel aeshetic delight and when he behaved mad with polonius at that time i also feel aesythetic delight.

4. Yes, I could feel catharsis many a times while watching the movie. In the nunnery scene when Hamlet behaves very roughly with Ophelia, She is crime bitterly yet still Hamlet holds her hand and drives her all over the room, and says that he doesn't love her. The second scene comes when Polonius is dead and Ophelia becomes mad. She cries and behaves madly and after that she is also dead.

5) yes, definitely it is visual effect s are more stronger than anyother. It clears the characters and their importance in the play .especially for me it is very very big confusion about sub-plot in the play is became clear after watching the movie.

6)Grave digging scene and madness of Ophelia are such a scene which i remember during lifetime.

7) If I am a director, I will try my best to change Hamlet’s thinking for his mother, and his beloved. And I will try to make the Hero and Heroine alive. Because if we see minutely, there is not any kind of fault in female characters, because according to me Gertrude and Ophelia both were innocent. They both were right in there ways. Ophelia was trying to be faithful to his father and lover, and Gertrude to her husband and son. But they meet to their tragic doom. So I will try to change the end of the the movie.

8.As my understanding , I find the symbolism in the play is “Revenge”. Because revenge itself is not a good idea and revenge never end, never sleep. And therefore Hamlet is responsible for himselfto take revenge.

9. According to my point of view, through movie cultural studies I find more applicable. Because cultural studies related with Elizabethan age. In the Elizabethan era, kings and queens have ruled over the kingdom. Here, in this play Claudius is a king of Denmark, and he is in the power position. So in this play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern- the friend of Hamlet, are marginalized character. They are, not true friends as they spy on their erstwhile friend Hamlet. So in this way we can say that they are pawns or sponges, and archetypal human being, At last, I could say that cultural approach is more appropriate.

(10)in the movie philosophical approach is more presented than ather
